Summer Couples Photoshoot at Seattle’s Discovery Park

Discovery Park in Seattle is one of my all-time favorite photoshoot locations. Whether it be for an engagement, anniversary, or just for fun, this park has so many beautiful backdrops for couples photos that look great all year long! This photoshoot with Alyssa and Kyle took place on a sunny summer day in August just around sunset.

We started the photoshoot on a trail surrounded by trees and full of sunny backlight.

Next, we strolled down the hill and found a cute patch of tall, dried grass surrounded by backlit evergreen trees.

We then walked further down the path to the Discovery Park bluffs overlooking the Puget Sound. This area of the park is so vast and makes an epic backdrop for portraits! I started with a few backlit shots, and then moved in to lighting Alyssa and Kyle in full sun, which was soft and not too intense as we were shooting during golden hour.

Next, we headed back up the hill and found a very picturesque spot with a large tree and golden grassy field. The sun was getting close to setting and peeked through in a few of the photos!

I also had Kyle and Alyssa run-jump through the grass toward me for some movement shots, and they nailed it! I love incorporating movement into poses and prompts – it always results in fun and memorable photos.

As the sun was getting even lower on the horizon, we moved to our second to final spot: a field covered in Queen Anne’s Lace, a pretty white wildflower. This gave me the flower field vibes I was searching for!

As we chased the sunlight to the very end, we found ourselves back up to the top of the hill with the setting sunlight casting a golden glow on Alyssa and Kyle. A perfect end to a perfect photoshoot!
