February Portrait Photoshoot at Shoreline’s North City Studio

When North City Studio opened up near me last year, I was so excited to try it out! I brought my good friend and model Alyssa for a fun photoshoot to see what we could create in two hours. We took these photos in February on a rainy, overcast day, and the natural light coming in from the north-facing floor-to-ceiling windows in the studio was perfect. Studio shoots are a wonderful option for the winter months if you need photos taken but don’t want to play the rain rescheduling game.

We started with a chestnut brown seamless backdrop and a simple white posing block.

Alyssa brought a variety of outfits to try out, so next we went with a denim dress and it contrasted beautifully with the color of the backdrop.

For the rest of the photoshoot, we put the chestnut brown backdrop away and went with a classic white for a clean and modern look.

The studio has a nice collection of chairs, couches, and houseplants that we incorporated into the photos!

Toward the end of the shoot we pulled out the studio’s green velvet couch (!) and I had a silly idea for Alyssa to lie down with her head hanging slightly off the end. It was funny in the moment but I love how they turned out!

If you want a reliable, beautiful, and weatherproof setting for your photos, especially in the winter, I would highly recommend a studio shoot! There are many amazing studios rentable by the hour in the greater Seattle area featuring a variety of backdrops (modern and white, brick/urban, greenhouses, and more) so you can choose the one that fits your style the best. Studio sessions are also a great option for folks who may be a little camera shy and like the privacy having a whole space rented out just for the shoot.
